The Virtue of Patience

Dear Jesus, you know intimately the challenges
that I face in showing patience toward the people
you have put in my life.
I have failed so often to bear with others in love.
Forgive me. Thank you, dear Savior, for paying
in full the price for these failures.
Thank you for your life of perfect patience, lived in my place.
Give me strength today to reflect your patience to others. Amen.

The Healing of Dharma

pexels-photo-2688661

Assailed by afflictions, we discover Dharma
And find the way to liberation. Thank you, evil forces!
When sorrows invade the mind, we discover Dharma
And find lasting happiness. Thank you, sorrows!
Through harm caused by spirits, we discover Dharma
And find fearlessness. Thank you, ghosts and demons!
Through people’s hate, we discover Dharma
And find benefits and happiness. Thank you, those who hate us!
Through cruel adversity, we discover Dharma
And find the unchanging way. Thank you, adversity!
Through being impelled to by others, we discover Dharma
And find the essential meaning. Thank you, all who drive us on!
We dedicate our merit to you all, to repay your kindness.

Be Lifted from Your Sorrows

pexels-photo-2801241

As you leave this place
may the Living Lord go with you;
May he go behind you, to encourage you,
beside you, to befriend you,
above you, to watch over you,
beneath you, to lift you from your sorrows,
within you, to give you the gifts of faith, hope, and love,
and always before you, to show you the way.

Dance as though no one is watching you,
Love as though you have never been hurt before,
Sing as though no one can hear you,
Live as though heaven is on earth.

Aging and Saging

By the passing of time
Surely one is in a state of loss
Except those who have faith
And perform righteous deeds
And those who enjoin upon one another.
Abiding by the truth,
Enjoin upon one another steadfastness.

Secret Fastness of the Heart

Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.
Blessed is the flame that burns in the secret fastness of the heart.
Blessed is the heart with strength to stop its beating
for honor’s sake.
Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.

Prayer Is a Relationship

art-graffiti-abstract-vintage

Prayer is a relationship; half the job is mine. If I want
transformation, but can’t even be bothered to articulate what,
exactly, I’m aiming for, how will it ever occur? Half the benefit of
prayer is in the asking itself, in the offering of a clearly posed and
well-considered intention. If you don’t have this, all your pleas and
desires are boneless, floppy, inert; they swirl at your feet in a cold
fog and never lift.

Prayer for a Sick Newborn Baby

Oh Lord Jesus, my little one is not very well at all, and she is so
tiny and vulnerable, and I don’t know what to do to help.
Give me wisdom, I pray, and show me what I ought to do.
Lord Jesus, You are the great doctor of all doctors, and You know
exactly what is wrong with her. Lord, I pray that You would
overshadow my little baby and stretch out Your healing hand and
touch her…and make her better very soon I pray.
Grant me peace in my heart and the wisdom to know what I
should do, and help me not to panic but to trust You in all things. I
trust You Lord, Amen.

Intercession for Those with Breast Cancer Illness

Photo by Riccardo Bresciani on Pexels.com

St. Agatha, woman of valor,
from your own suffering we have
been moved to ask your prayers
for those of us who suffer from breast cancer.
We place theses names before you
and ask you to intercede on their behalf.
From where you stand in the health of life eternal,
all wounds healed and all tears wiped away,
pray for [mention your request] and all of us.
Pray God will give us His holy benediction
of health and healing. And we remember
you were a victim of torture and that you learned
firsthand of human cruelty and inhumanity.
We ask you to pray for our entire world.
Ask God to enlighten us with a “genius for
peace and understanding.” Ask Him to send us
His Spirit of Serenity, and ask Him to help us
share that peace with all we meet.
From what you learned from your own path of pain,
ask God to give us the Grace we need to remain
holy in difficulties, not allowing our anger or our
bitterness to overtake us. Pray that we will be
more peaceful and more charitable. And from
your holy place in our mystical body, the Church,
pray that we in our place and time will, together,
create a world of justice and peace. Amen.
