Walk the Good Road to the Day of Quiet

There is no other one to pray to but you.
You yourself, everything that you see,
everything that has been made by you.
The star nations all over the universe you have finished.
The four quarters of the earth you have finished.
The day, and in that day, everything you have finished.
Grandfather, Great Spirit, lean close to the earth
that you may hear the voice I send.
You towards where the sun goes down, behold me;
Thunder Beings, behold me!
You where the White Giant lives in power, behold me!
You where the sun shines continually,
whence come the daybreak star and the day, behold me!
You where the summer lives, behold me!
You in the depths of the heavens, an eagle of power, behold!
And you, Mother Earth, the only Mother,
you who have shown mercy to your children.
Hear me, four quarters of the world—
a relative I am!
Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is!

Give me the eyes to see and the strength to understand,
that I may be like you.
With your power only can I face the winds.
and walk the good road to the day of quiet.
This is my prayer; hear me!
The voice I have sent is weak,
yet with earnestness I have sent it.
Hear me!
It is finished. Hetchetu aloh!

Beatitudes

Blessed be the Earth and those who tend her,
for she is the source and sustenance of our lives.
Blessed be the children who hunger for food,
learning, and homes that are safe,
for their future is shaped by our choices today.
Blessed be the refugees fleeing the violence of war and poverty,
may they find shelter, peace, and work that sustains them.
Blessed be those who are calling for freedom,
resisting oppression, and risking their lives
in the struggle for justice,
for they are the shapers of a brighter world.
Blessed be the persecuted and wrongly judged,
for theirs is a sorrow lessened only by mercy and human kindness.
Blessed be the prophets who speak and write of a world
beyond war,
for theirs are the words becoming flesh.
Blessed be the story-tellers, music-makers, and artists at life,
for they are the true light of the world.
Blessed be the tender-hearted who mourn and grieve

the wars we’ve fought, the lives we’ve lost,
may peace ride in on the river of their tears.

Working Mothers Are Our Heroes

adult-child-daughter-1683975
My Loving Creator, You know how really tired I am.
On days when things are really frantic,
I consider how you made the world in seven days—and then I try
to remember that you aren’t asking me to recreate that feat.
Please help me to remain a loving mother to my children
and to keep some balance in my life.
Help me to remember that you are with me
in every packed hour of every day.
As I am finishing a work project or planning dinner
or buying the kids shoes
(sometimes all at the same time), help me to remember
your loving care for me and let me sometimes stop for a moment
and just wallow in that. Most of all, my caring Father,
let me remember to ask for help and to rely on you for strength
when I have none left; for patience when mine is so often gone;
and for the wisdom and endless well of compassion

and love I need in my job as mother.

An Angel to Protect You: Irish Prayer for a Newborn

adorable-asleep-baby-2111997
May strong arms hold you
Caring hearts tend you
And may love await you at every step.
May you bring light to the home
Warmth to the heart
Joy to the soul
And love to the lives you touch.
May God surround this child
And bless this day.
May you have a sunbeam to warm you
Good luck to charm you
An angel to protect you
Laughter to cheer you
And faithful friends near you.
May God hold you
In the hollow of his hand
Forever and ever.

In Perfect Peace: Prayer for Babies to Sleep

adorable-baby-born-2133

Heavenly Father, how I thank You
for the joy and privilege of parenthood
and for the precious baby that in Your grace You have brought

into our home—to love and to cherish.
Father, You have said in Scripture that You give
Your beloved sleep
and I ask that You would bless our beloved little baby
with a deep, refreshing, and uninterrupted night’s sleep.
May Your perfect peace flood his or her little soul
and keep all frightening little thoughts and dreams far away
throughout the hours of darkness, and keep watch
over him or her.
I pray through the hours of darkness, in Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Daughters Become Mothers

May it be Your wish, G-d our Lord and G-d of our ancestors,
Ruler of mercy: that the same way
You have saved me from this great pain
and from the dangers of giving birth,
so too may Your mercies pour forth
to rescue all the daughters of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
the descendants of those who truly loved You, from this danger.
As You have saved me now,
so do I beg You to show me a sign of favor
each time that I give birth. Amen.

May We Always Be Kind as an Example to Our Children

May we develop patience to achieve all happiness,
temporal and ultimate, and to bring that
happiness to others; not only to our family,
but to all sentient beings.

May we develop all the sixteen human qualities,
an understanding which makes our lives different.

May we become skilled in not harming sentient beings,
and may we become only the source of happiness for sentient beings,
like sunshine.

May we practice contentment.

May we learn contentment and satisfaction.
May we learn to enjoy contentment,
which brings great freedom into our lives
and brings us so much happiness.
May we be an example to the world.

O God! Educate these children.
These children are the plants of Thine orchard,
the flowers of Thy meadow,
the roses of Thy garden.
Let Thy rain fall upon them;
let the Sun of Reality shine upon them with Thy love.
Let Thy breeze refresh them in order
that they may be trained, grow, and develop,
and appear in the utmost beauty.
Thou art the Giver.
Thou art the Compassionate.

In This Miracle, All Miracles Are Born

silhouette of tree during sunset
Photo by Johannes Plenio on Pexels.com

A God becomes Child to save the children,
Shepherds chant with the tongue of Angels,
Salvation is described in a Mystery,
Heaven and Earth mingle into one Soul this night.
Prophecy is the point of a Star.
Cherubim bow with the neck of Shepherds.
A cave becomes the Gate of the Universe
While kings search for the bed of a Beggar.
A Maiden becomes the Mother of Grace;
Life has been given another Life.
The Child reaches out, takes hold of the world
And smiles the Innocent Smile.
In this Miracle all miracles are born –
The blind receive sight and the deaf have song,
The cold and homeless have shelter
And pilgrims cease their wanderings.
In this Creation all creation is born
And all creatures have a voice.
We find ourselves kneeling alongside the Magi.
The Child turns, looks and recognizes.
