Mother and Child in Your Safe Arms

baby-babysitter-babysitting-51953

Father God, who placed the stars in the sky,
Who created seas of blue and causes each flower to bloom,
I know you love me and have watched this new little life I carry.
Come lay your gentle hand upon us as we draw near to the birth.
Fill our hearts with excitement;
Cover our lives with hope.
Guide us through labor
Into a new season.
I give you both my joys and fears

And choose to put my trust in you.
I trust in you to shelter us both,
Mother and child, within your safe arms.
Amen.

May We Always Be Kind as an Example to Our Children

May we develop patience to achieve all happiness,
temporal and ultimate, and to bring that
happiness to others; not only to our family,
but to all sentient beings.

May we develop all the sixteen human qualities,
an understanding which makes our lives different.

May we become skilled in not harming sentient beings,
and may we become only the source of happiness for sentient beings,
like sunshine.

May we practice contentment.

May we learn contentment and satisfaction.
May we learn to enjoy contentment,
which brings great freedom into our lives
and brings us so much happiness.
May we be an example to the world.

Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of having a new life within,
Thank you, Lord, for Your son, who came to forgive our sins.
Bless this child I have inside,
And give me Your will as my guide.
Give me Your wisdom for this child I will raise,
That he or she will give You honor and praise.
No matter what road this child may take,
Let he or she love You, never to forsake.
To you, Lord, our glory and praises we sing,
For you, Lord, are the Savior of all things.
Amen.

Plea for Intercession

O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong,
so prompt before the Throne of God,
I place in you all my interests and desires.
O St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession
and obtain for me from your Divine Son
all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord;
so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power
I may offer my Thanksgiving and Homage
to the most Loving of Fathers.
O St. Joseph, I never weary [of] contemplating you

and Jesus asleep in your arms.

I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me,
and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls,
pray for us.
Amen.

Thank you, God, for this new day, for the life you are giving each member of my family: Thank you for [name each member of the immediate family, not forgetting yourself]. Bless each one of us with the strength and health we need to serve you today, with the joy we need not to give in to discouragement, anger, or boredom, with the protection we need against physical and moral danger, and with the love we need to give hope to those we meet.
